Anomaly Scan

Anomaly Scan

The anomaly scan, also known as the mid-pregnancy scan, is a detailed ultrasound scan. It is normally performed between the ages of 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Why Is It Done?

This scan is used to keep track of your baby’s growth. It’s done to rule out any major problems with your baby so that proper treatment can be started right away. There’s a risk that some of the abnormalities will be overlooked despite the scan, which we won’t know about until the baby is born.

This scan provides a thorough examination of your baby’s brain, spinal cord, joints, face, kidneys, heart, abdomen and lungs.
